Good Times!
The Summer of 2017 was one of the best on record for me and my family. We did SO much together and enjoyed the great weather with family and friends. For this design I wanted to make something that would be a commemoration of some of the good times. My wife found this picture of me enjoying myself while roasting marshmallows.
I wanted the design to have a sense of nostalgia, as if it were already an old memory from years ago. To do this I blurred the edge of the image and left myself in focus. I then applied some color layers with blues, reds and green with a layer mode of hard and soft light respectively. I added a few adjustment layers to bring out colors and create some added contrast. By doing this the design takes on a look as if it were an old photo taken in the 80's that has since been degraded by the effects of time. I also cropped the picture to focus on the subject - me and the mallow. I chose the font because it has a nice bold, but easy flowing feeling, which is how I would describe this past Summer. I placed it on the upper third of the design in a way that follows the contour of my head and shoulders. I added the white border as a final touch because it reminded me of how the pictures looked when my mom would get them developed when I was younger.
